Our Story
Lounsbury Funeral Home has a long and distinguished history in our community dating back to 1898. The firm, originally Stager & Company - founded by Aaron Stager - operated under that name until 1957. At that point a young man named Erwin Nelson, along with his wife Florrie, purchased the funeral home and would carry on business as Nelson Funeral Home for almost 40 years before selling to Dale and Lori Lounsbury in 1996.
As Dale and Lori settled into the community they chose to put their mark on firm and changed the name to Lounsbury Funeral Home, as it remains today. In 2015, with the retirement of the Lounsbury's, Corbett Funeral Home Limited purchased the property, making it part of the Corbett business. Steve Parker, a long term funeral director with Corbett’s who had taken over that business from its founders a decade before, was very pleased to be able to keep Lounsbury's in local hands. “We shared the belief that funeral service is at its best as a local business so it was a good fit.”
In 2026, after 20 years at the helm, Steve Parker retired from the business and, in keeping with the traditions of local ownership and succession from within, Steve sold his interest in the business to two young funeral directors whom he had mentored. In February 2026 Kevin Medeiros and Sarah Mazmanian became the new owners of Corbett Funeral Home Limited.
We are proud to remain a locally owned and operated, Canadian business.
Together Corbett Funeral Home and Lounsbury Funeral Home are privileged to be the funeral services providers of choice for more Cambridge and area families than any other firm – a distinction we’ve held for many years and by which we are humbled.
We are grateful for the privilege of serving you.
