It is with great sorrow that I announce the passing of Mitch due to complications of Huntington’s Disease on July 8, 2021 at St Luke’s Place. He was 54.
He will be sorely missed by his family: his beloved wife Pamela (Salamon) of 32 years, his brother Chris (Deb); brother-in-law to Barbara & Alan Barr and David & Sheila Lynch-Salamon. He leaves behind nieces and nephews: Kyle de Beus, Brittany (Craig) Deschamps, Johnathan & Karalee Barr, Heather & Scott Wood, Alana Barr and Brendan (Sam) Lynch-Salamon. His great nieces and nephews: Colten, Payton, Ezra, Asher, Oren, Baby Barr and Jasper.
Also, his friends most notably ‘the gang’: Gregg & Marianne Davidson, Angela & Ric Carney, Elaine & Dave Shaw, Nelson & Sharon Batista and their extended families.
He was predeceased by his parents, Christiaan & Martha (van Otterloo) and his niece Chelsea de Beus.
I want to thank the staff and volunteers of St Luke’s Place, the group at Pride Stables, the various physicians that have helped up through this horrible disease and the Huntington Society and Grand River Chapter for all their support for over the years.
A memorial service will be held at Lounsbury Funeral Home in Hespeler on Friday, July 23rd at 2pm.
Donations can be made to: the Huntington Society of Canada, Pride Stables or Great Dane Angels.

Dearest Pam, Thinking of you with love on this day as you reflect on Mitch's life. All of it not just the disease and suffering. It was a life worth celebrating and you have both endured the hard times with courage and strength. May the Lord give you peace as you start a new chapter. Fondly, Sue and Ching Yu

It is hard to believe that our good friend is gone. There have been so many memories over the past almost 40 years that involved Mitch and later on Pam as well. From good times at GCI where "the gang" began, to working at the Food Barn together and our antics that often got us into trouble with our bosses, to camping together year after year, every Christmas get-together, Grey Cup every year at Mitch and Pam's, cottage time, fishing, travelling to fun places like Newfoundland and getting screeched in. I could go on and on. I am glad to have all of those memories of Mitch, and will remember them fondly forever. My condolences to Pam who worked so hard over the years to be sure that Mitch led an enriching life with his friends - and continuing to stay involved in everything that they could. Mitch was a great friend a wonderful, funny and brilliant individual, and will always be part of "the gang"!

My deepest condolences to Pamela, family and friends. I have many fond memories of Mitch right from our first meeting at Mr. Grocer including dancing in the aisles to Christmas tunes, crazy cottage adventures in Gravenhurst, Oktoberfest(s) in Kitchener, bar hopping and hot wings in Waterloo, the honour of being his Best Man, downhill skiing in Banff and exploring Johnson Canyon, a couple of rockin’ boys weekends at our cottage in Quebec, dinner with both Mitch and Pam while in Cancun Mexico and a couple of surprise visits in KW. While we were not always close in proximity we found ways to get together, pick up where we left off and have a good laugh along the way. I will always remember Mitchel as one of the most intelligent people I have ever known with an infectious smile and his loving angel Pamela by his side throughout. May you Rest In Peace.
- Love, Duane Barry, Ottawa Ontario.
