My wife, Amy, and I were saddened to learn of Mary's passing and we offer our sincere condolences to her three sons and their families, as well as the extended Janes and Rogers families. I was on the CFOT staff when Mary was a Cadet, and I remember her for her diligence in small tasks and her determination. She was a model cadet and carried both her dedication and skills into her active officership. Later, Amy and I were pleased to have fellowship with Cyril and Mary and our visits to their home in Toronto remain in our minds because she was such a gracious host. Well done thou good and faithful servant, Major Mary Janes!

Rodney, Stephen and Roger Janes (and Marie Rogers). I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's (sister's) recent passing.

Mary and I first met as Session mates at the Training College in 1965-67. I also have great memories of the two years (1968-69 and 1969-70) when we shared the same appointment and lived together at Cottrell's Cove and Ming's Bight. We were young, eager officers who embraced the challenges of living with meager resources, made lots of mistakes (and learned from them), laughed and cried together, and then moved on. On more than one occasion on our trips outside the community, we had a flat tire or ran out of gas along the way in Mary's little white car. We did eventually learn to carry a spare gas can with us. I also remember the happy times of visiting your grandparents' home in Twillingate with Mary.

I can't forget your Mom's and Dad's courtship which was very much alive and well during those days (minus cellphone, text messages and facebook). Mary spent "many hours" writing Cyril and then patiently waiting for the "snail mail" to arrive. It did, eventually. All these years later, you can each cherish their love and celebrate their lives with thanksgiving.

While we have not had much opportunity for contact since you were still young children living on Cleveland Street, I often think fondly of the friendship that we shared and the memories that remain with me.

My sincere condolences to each of you on the loss of both your Mom and your Dad. Take care of each other.

RIP, my friend, Mary.

Rodney, Stephen, & Roger, I am so very sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. The loss of a mother is something you never quite get over. I hope that you take all the good and amazing memories of your time together and hold them close. Count them as your truest blessings and when you think of her, smile, laugh and remember she will always be with you in your hearts.
I remember our Toronto days when we were stationed there, we often went for walks together. Your Mom's friendship meant a lot to me.
I am thinking of you all at this sad time. Let the Peace of God cover you right now.!

Dear Rodney, Stephen, Roger and Family Members - As you know Henry & I were friends with your parents for many years and had many happy days together sharing time in Toronto; especially when you boys were younger. Also, the many holidays spent at Jackson's Point . I could mention many more occasions over the years that created our bond of friendship.

I spent a lot of time with your Mom in recent years since she moved back to Elmira. I am going to miss my good Friend Mary. I grieve with you all today. Please be assured of our love and prayers as you journey this road called "Grief & Loss."

Thank you for giving me the privilege of sharing time with your Mom 2 days before her passing.

Cherish your memories!!!!!

Blessings!
