Obituary

With great sadness we announce the passing of Josephine Moszynski due to complications after a long battle following a lung transplant.
Josephine was a bright and classic woman of immense strength and resilience with the ability to always see the positive. She will be remembered fondly for her fabulous laugh, genuine kindness, and her sense of style - with her trademark popped collar and silk scarves.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband and lifelong best friend, Jacek/Jay, and their daughters, AngeLis (Scott) Davidson and Jillian (Mark) Leclair. Josephine will also be forever cherished by her grandchildren Austin (Julia), Brooke, Monet, and great grandson Oliver. Champagne will be popped forever in her honour.

Our daughters were students at St.Joe’s.
We met Jo or Miss Moszynski when she was working in the front office. She always had a friendly smile and was kind and helpful to us and our daughters Ally and. Tori.
We are very sorry for your loss.
Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

With heavy heart, I wish to extend to Jacek, Angelis, Jillian and the entire family my deepest sympathy and wish that the strength of the family bond, nurtured by Josephine over the years, will carry them through this difficult time.

World spiritual sages have said that laughter is “the carrier of life energy” and that those who can laugh have a strong grasp of life. Most of us would agree that they must have been talking about Josephine whose infectious laughter could always draw others to participate.

The 40 years of friendship with Jo and Jacek have left great memories of wonderful times with lots of giggles. Whether at a dinner table, on a ski hill or at a beach Jo’s laughter always spawned more laughter. What wife, hosting a gourmet dinner party, would find it funny to see her husband and his buddy tie knots in their linen napkins for three hours making party hats to wear while speaking in broken Polish/English accents? Josephine would, and did! And by the end of that dinner wives and daughters all had hats too; and all were laughing.

Thank you Jo for showing us that in life there is always room to smile and laugh.

Josephine was a truly genuine and classy lady, who will be sorely missed by so many people who knew her and her fun-loving, life-loving, happy nature. She always had a smile for everyone, and radiated such positive energy.

Jo is remembered by a lucky handful of ladies who got to enjoy cross-border shopping trips with her, as she was a great fashion advisor and would stalk out great bargains, not just for herself, but for everyone else too. We all remember her, for her collection of dozens of jackets, and who knew how many pairs of shoes. I once had the opportunity to see her “store” in the basement of the Moszynski home. She kept everything and was honestly able to say that she could still fit into everything she’d ever owned. Not a feat, to which many of us can lay claim.

Jo also had great culinary talent and was not afraid to experiment with new recipes on her guests. But her creations always turned out perfectly and she presented them that way as well. Her skills did not stop there, as she was very skilled at hosting as well. We were made to feel special when we dined at her table.

We will all miss her kindness, thoughtfulness, and expressed appreciation of her family and friends. Jacek, Angelis, Jillian and your families, take comfort in knowing that we all share your grief
.
Rest peacefully, Jo.

One of the memories that always pops into my mind when I think of Josephine was a girls weekend we took to Ellicottville to go cross-border shopping. My mom, my sister, me, Jo & Jillian. We went shopping, went to dinner, and we played cards and had a great time. She was an excellent bargain hunter, but not only for herself. She would pick things off the rack for others and say "this would look great on you!" and she was always right! I actually still have a few pieces of clothing that she picked out for me, while shopping with my Mom (I wasn't even there!) and she knew it would suit me.

I also remember that Josephine was one of those people who could just fit in with any crowd. Not just fit in, but by the end of the party or the dinner, she would have a whole new group of friends. I cannot tell you the number of people that would go out of their way to say to us "Gosh that Josephine is such a nice lady, I really like her" after only meeting her for the first time. That was her true gift. She made people feel like a friend even if they'd just met. Our family is heartbroken to hear the news, she will be missed by many (old friends and new alike).
