I Would like to extend my deepest sympathies to all the Family. Doris was a very good friend of Sonya Carswell. They worked
at Angel Stone in Cambridge for many years and played Bridge with Annelie and Joan. I meet Doris through the Bridge group and we have all since meet for lunch over the last 6-7 years. Sonya is in a nursing Home in Hamilton and has Alzheimer's I am her Care Taker Effie Keller. It was a pleasure meeting these ladies and getting to know them. They supported me with kindness and fellowship inquiring about Sonya's health and well being. I will always remember Doris as a kind soul and appreciated her thoughtfulness. I was very sorry to hear of her passing.

Doris was a very dear friend to my late mother, Mona Thompson. The pair, in their heyday, got up to all sorts of good fun - dressing up at Halloween and knocking on people's doors, never saying who they were, all-night parties that would have the pair flaked out in our family room at Beaverdale, bleeding mascara lines, high heels and fur stoles abandoned, while still dressed in long gowns at 5 a.m., and, of course, the de rigeur euchre card games where Doris and my mom switched from rye 'n' coke to rye 'n' water because they were trying to lose weight to fit into those party gowns.

Saturday mornings, Doris and Susie would be out to our place or mom and I to theirs, talking on everything and nothing important, Susie and I playing with our Barbie dolls.

And when Doris worked at Anglestone, we four would swim at the company pool there. That was a day of splashing fun and relaxation for the working moms.

My mom met Doris when she lived on Beaverdale Road and when I and my parents lived in the "blue house" bubgalow before we built the big home down by The Pond.

My mom helped Doris through some trying times back then and their friendship endured until we moved out west in '74.

My mom never forgot Doris, for she remained forever a dear friend in my mom's heart.

Doris always had a big smile and a welcoming heart, and somehow put up with Wayne and Susie and little me when we'd get up to no good at 69 Queen Street West. As I think back to Doris's front deck there, covered in morning glory flowers, those flowers remind me of her - a beautiful, bright and gracious soul who lived life to its full. Her memory will live forever in my heart. My thoughts today are with Ronnie, Wayne and Susie-Q. xoxo Barbie Thompson
