Una Amos-Brown (nee Calder)
Una passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on Sept 12 surrounded by her loving daughters. She is predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Amos of Parkhill (1983) and Dr. D. Murray Brown of Cambridge (2014).
Dearly loved and proud mother of her six daughters - Kerry (Ed) Price, Kathy (John) Locke, Joan Butler (Mike Foulser), Janet (Dave) Schedler, Nancy (Colin) Davy, Marilyn (Bruce Schappert), and twelve grandchildren plus two great-granddaughters. Predeceased by two grandsons. Devoted stepmother to Murray’s children Tim (Marcia) Brown, Joan (Gordon) Sullivan, Lorne (Bonnie) Brown and six grandchildren plus 5 great-grandchildren. Una will be dearly missed by her sisters Kay Patience, Donna McCall, and Marion Hayhurst and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Julia Woods.
Una had a fulfilling teaching career in Woodstock, London, and counties of Oxford and Middlesex. She was actively involved with St Luke’s United Church, Probus Club, Guelph Curling Club and Hespeler Library.
There were many special times for family and friends with get-togethers at the family cottage on Lake Huron. She stayed busy creating handmade crafts, reading, playing bridge and was a worldwide traveler. Her life was enriched by the love of her family and many close friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 17 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Blvd, Cambridge. Funeral service will be Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 11 am at Saint Luke’s United Church, 1620 Franklin Blvd Cambridge.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Luke’s United Church in memory of Una or a charity of your choice.
