Obituary

Donald James Orton, born 1940, passed away peacefully at the Cambridge Country Manor, Friday May 10, 2019 at the age of 79.
Donald was the beloved husband of the late Marjorie June Orton (Detzler) and dear father of Clifford Donald Orton (passed 1993), Teri-Lynn (Foss) & Kevin Studiman, Mary-Ann Jakubiec (Foss) & Troy Buchanan, Sharilee (Orton) & Harold Then and Dale Amaral (Foss) & Mike Legault. Don is also survived by his dear sister Janet Purdy (Orton), 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Margaret and Clifford Orton of Hespeler, grandson Adam Foss, nephews Donny Cooper & Randy Purdy-Cooper and special mention to Beverly C Johnston and Marjorie Dupe. Don will be sadly missed by his girls and all who loved him.
Donald was a life-long resident of Hespeler. He worked at Wood’s Transport for many years and retired from Overland Express at the age of 55. Dad loved camping and our family enjoyed many summers at Long Point and Elora Gorge. He truly loved his family home and the memories made along the Speed River.
For those who wish to make a donation in Lieu of Flowers can do so to the Diabetes Society of Canada.
A Grave side service will be held at New Hope Cemetery on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 11 a.m. with a celebration of life to follow.
Our family would like to extend a special thankyou to the Care Staff at the Cambridge Country Manor.

Dear Grandpa, I remember when we were little, you would take us to the highland games. March and participate in the festivities, I still love the that I got to wear a kilt. Going to long point every summer with the family in toe. Exploring your huge backyard, Playing ice hockey out on the speed. Hanging out at your house waiting for Adam, Chuck, and Matt to get home from school(sorry jess you weren't here yet), eating wild raspberries and hanging out with your dog, Yoshi(Blue). Thank you for being the kind man you were. Grandma is waiting for you with open arms.

Goodbye Oldman.

My sincerest sympathy to everyone in Cambridge during this difficult time. Uncle Don, you will be missed!
I'm grateful for the times I got to spend with you (even if they weren't often because of distance). Always lots of talk about books, movies and history. Engaging and genuine conversations! Lots of laughs the last time you visited Calgary.
I will also never forget you scaring the heck out of me as a kid, lol!
Rest well, be at peace. Stop by sometime. Much love to you xoxo.
