Our Story

Lounsbury Funeral Home has a long and distinguished history dating back to 1898. The firm, originally Stager & Company -  founded by Aaron Stager - operated under that name until 1957. At that point a young man named Erwin Nelson, along with his wife Florrie, purchased the funeral home and carried on business as Nelson Funeral Home until 1996.  After almost 40 years of service, Erwin then sold the funeral home to Dale and Lori Lounsbury.
As Dale and Lori settled into the community they chose to change the name to Lounsbury Funeral Home, as it remains today. In 2015, with the retirement of the Lounsbury's, Corbett Funeral Home Limited purchased the assets of their firm and has operated it since as a part of the Corbett business. Steve Parker who has been with Corbett's since it opened its doors in 1987 and became the firm's owner 17 years ago, was very pleased to be able to keep Lounsbury's in local hands. “We shared the belief that funeral service is at its best as a local business”, says Steve, "so it was a good fit." Since its doors opened, Corbett Funeral Home has become the provider of choice in Cambridge.  The addition of the Lounsbury Funeral Home in 2015, has allowed them to extend the reach of their quality, caring service to an even larger community.
